Tips for a safe and happy holiday season!

While the 2020 holiday season presented many challenges, we can get back to doing the things we love with friends and family for the holidays this year, thanks to the COVID-19 vaccines.

To help you navigate this holiday season, check out these tips for keeping yourself and your loved ones safe, healthy, and happy:

If you’re traveling, make sure you keep the below tips in mind before you and your family set off:

  1. Get your family vaccinated. With vaccines now available for children ages 5 and older, make sure everyone in your family of age has their shot before you travel. If you’re still unvaccinated you can get yours alongside your children to save time ahead of your trip!
  2. Get your booster shot. If it’s been 6 months or more since your last COVID-19 vaccination shot, you may be eligible for a booster. Boosters are a great way to increase your protection against the virus as you travel or spend more time indoors for the winter.
  3. Prepare your supplies and your travel plans. Whether you’re traveling by plane, train or car, make sure you bring the essentials: masks, tissues and hand sanitizer. At the airport, prepare for crowded airports and social distancing. With folks around the country eager to travel this year, you can expect long lines and busy airports.

If you’re hosting, here’s what you need to know to throw a safe and successful celebration this year:

  1. Reach out about vaccination early. Now is the time to reach out to your guests and check-in on their vaccination status. Encourage your family and friends to at least get their first vaccine dose ahead of the big day. It can be a hard conversation to have, but it will save lives.
  2. Ensure proper ventilation. To be on the safe side, try to consider how you can create additional ventilation when indoors. Opening windows and doors, eating outside if the weather permits, or using fans to keep air moving are all great options to reduce COVID-19 transmission.
  3. Have fun with it! Remember that we’re still in a pandemic – so strive for connection, not perfection. Now is a great time to create new holiday traditions. You can encourage friends and family to cook with you over video call, or (if the weather is good) go for walks or bike rides outdoors! By reducing holiday related stress, we can all be happier and healthier.
